Repairs

Worn your trousers too much so the fabric has worn away? Sat on a nail (I’ve been there…)? Or maybe the fabric has just torn for no apparent reason? IT HAPPENS.

Fabric and clothing are not indestructible, even with every care taken during production and when wearing, there can be a weakness in the fabric (I mean, linen is lovely, but nobody is perfect, right?) or an unforeseen accident with a nail - though this one thankfully did more damage to the jumpsuit than my bum!

When I sew up your lovely garments I use a seam that is stitched twice (flat-felled seams if you’re curious!) to make these areas as secure as possible, and I include remnants of your fabric within the parcel for any future patching needs. However, if sewing is not your forte or something has torn and you don’t think it should have then get in touch! The idea behind creating a sustainable item of clothing is that it is LOVED and that it LASTS, so I want to everything I can to facilitate this, both before you receive your order and after.

For a small fee and the price of your return postage (you can purchase this in the shop or follow the link below) I am more than happy to repair your garments so you can keep on wearing them! If something has gone awry within the first few months (a rare occurrence, but sh*t happens, no?) then I will cover the cost and return postage myself.

Sending something back for repair also helps me keep on learning and making my designs more durable. I wear each piece myself to eek out any flaws, but the more they are worn (and by more shapes and sizes), the more I can tweak for the better. A few things I have repaired in the past are:

  • The bottom edge of the pocket seam - this can wear away from the pressure of the hand, so I now use a zig-zag stitch to secure this area further

  • The elastic on the Shard trousers - originally secured only at one seam, it is now secured at every seam to reduce the possibility of it becoming loose

  • The ties on the Eleanor Dress - now doubly stitched into the side seam to avoid it pulling away!

  • The neckline on the jumpsuit gaping - a minor adjustment to the pattern fixed this - and it is an easy adjustment to any piece made before this

I’m happy to adjust any garment to factor in these improvements too, as I’d hate to think of any garment I’ve made languishing away at the back of your wardrobe.

Normal turnaround for this service is 5 weeks but you can also pay an additional fee to ensure your repair or alteration jumps the queue and will be shipped back to you within 7 working days of it arriving with me!
